If no qualifying billfish over the minimum weights are caught, the base-entry money goes to the top three billfish-release-point teams.
OPTIONAL JACKPOT DIVISIONS
All optional jackpot divisions are 100 percent payback. The tournament rules apply to all optional jackpots. Only teams entered in the general tournament may enter the optional jackpots. Only teams entered in the optional jackpots are eligible for jackpot cash and prizes.
MARLIN JACKPOTS
Carter Chevrolet Daily Marlin Jackpots — 100 percent payback
Daily marlin-jackpot fees are optional and consist of four different levels of participation. You must be entered in the lower levels to participate in the next higher level. Example: In order to enter level III, you must be entered in levels I and II.
Level I — $1,025
Level II — $1,250
Level III — $1,700
Level IV — $2,500
These jackpot totals cover all three day’s fishing. For example: $1,025 enters the team in all three dailies at level I.
The daily marlin-jackpot awards go to the largest marlin (by weight) of any species that exceeds the minimum weight requirements caught each day. The daily marlin-jackpot prize will consist of one-third of the jackpot from each level. If no fish that reach the minimum weights on an individual day are weighed, the jackpot will roll over to the next day’s fishing. If, on the final day of fishing, no fish that exceed the minimum weight limits are caught, then the final day’s jackpot money will go to the previous day’s winner(s). In the event that no teams in the daily marlin jackpot catch a qualifying fish, the daily marlin-jackpot entry will be returned less a one percent fee. Only teams registered in the daily marlin jackpots are eligible for cash prizes.
Playa Grande WINNER-TAKE-ALL MARLIN JACKPOT — 100 percent payback: $3,000
Teams must be entered in the general tournament and all levels of the daily marlin jackpot to enter this division. The Winner-Take-All marlin jackpot will be awarded to the team that catches the largest eligible marlin in the tournament over the three days of fishing. In the event that no teams in the Winner-Take-All marlin jackpot catch a qualifying marlin, the Winner-Take-All jackpot entry will be returned less a one percent fee. Only teams registered in the Winner-Take-All marlin jackpot are eligible for cash and prizes.
King Sailfish Mounts Daily Billfish-Release Jackpot — 100 percent payback: $750
This is a daily jackpot that will go to the team that scores the most billfish releases during each day’s fishing. Eligible species are sailfish, spearfish and blue, black and striped marlin. The pot will be divided three ways between the boat or boats that score the most billfish releases on Day One, Day Two and Day Three. Ties between boats scoring the same number of releases will go to the boat that scores the most number of releases first. For example: If two boats score five releases on Day One, the boat that released its fifth fish first will win the daily billfish-release jackpot.
If, on the final day of fishing, no fish are released, then the final day’s jackpot money will go to the previous day’s winner(s). If no billfish-release-jackpot teams release a fish, the release-jackpot entry will be returned less a one percent fee. Only teams registered in the daily billfish-release jackpot are eligible for cash and prizes.
Tropical Enterprises TWD (Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado) Jackpot Division — 100 percent payback: $775
This pot is divided among the largest (by weight) yellowfin tuna, dorado and wahoo caught during the tournament. If one or more of the eligible species that reaches or exceeds the minimum weights is not caught during the event, the prize money for that species will roll over to the other categories. For example: If no dorado are caught, then the dorado prize money will be split evenly between the wahoo and tuna categories. In the event that no teams in the tuna/wahoo/dorado jackpot catch a qualifying fish, the tuna/wahoo/dorado entry will be returned less a one percent fee. Only teams registered in the tuna/wahoo/dorado jackpot are eligible for cash and prizes.
Total cost for entering all marlin jackpots, the base entry and TWD jackpot is $16,000.
